What identification or authorization do I need to buy Hold Mail at the post office?

To purchase Hold Mail service at a post office, you must show one piece of original, valid, government-issued photo ID. If this piece of ID does not show the address where you want to hold mail, you must also show proof that you live at that address.

Purchasing Hold Mail for someone else, or for a business?

If you are purchasing Hold Mail on behalf of a person or a business that does not share the same address as you, or if you are not listed as a mail recipient on the Hold Mail form, then you need to provide a letter of authorization or other document (such as a Power of Attorney) authorizing you to act for the person or business.
